KOMODO freediving TRIP
7 Days of Ocean Adventures, Wildlife Encounters & Epic Freediving
march 4 - 10
Pack your fins and join us for a bucket-list adventure from Gili to the lost paradise of Komodo — freediving with whale sharks, exploring vibrant reefs, and hiking to sunset views over remote islands.
We’ve tailored this retreat for adventurous souls who love the ocean and can't wait to experience the wild beauty of Indonesia.
ITINERARY
Day 1 – All Aboard!
We meet in Gili Trawangan and step onto our beautiful home for the week: Mikumba Dua. After breakfast, we’ll settle into our cabins, get familiar with the boat, and cruise into the blue. First stop: a warm-up dive near Tunang Wall before we set off overnight towards the remote island of Moyo and the deep bay of Teluk Saleh.
Day 2 – Whale Sharks, Anyone?
Wake up early to snorkel or freedive with the gentle giants of the sea — whale sharks! We’ll cruise out of the bay after our close encounters, then dive the wild and wonderful reefs off northeast Sumbawa (site picked on the day for best conditions). As the sun sets, we anchor near Satonda Island and watch the sky fill with flying foxes before an overnight cruise to northwest Komodo.
Day 3 – Crystal Clear Komodo
We wake up in the calm, turquoise bay of Batu Monco. With 50m visibility and epic line diving conditions, today is all about depth and beauty. Three stunning sites await, all within paddling distance.
Day 4 – Komodo’s Famous Reefs
We explore some of Komodo’s crown jewels — dive sites like Crystal Rock, Castle Rock, the Cauldron (a.k.a. Shotgun), and Golden Passage. Expect swirling currents, big fish, and coral gardens straight out of a dream. We’ll hike Gili Lawa Darat in the late afternoon for an unforgettable sunset over the islands.
Day 5 – Drifts, Walls & Night Magic
The central channel between Komodo and Rinca delivers high-energy dives like Makassar Reef (epic drift!), Batu Bolong (a coral-covered wall), and the twin Tatawas. As night falls, you’ll have the option for a night dive at Wainilu — spooky, sparkly, and full of surprises.
Day 6 – Dragons & Dives
Early morning trek on Rinca Island to meet the legendary Komodo dragons up close. Back on the boat, we’ll explore nearby dive sites like Siaba Besar and Pengah before enjoying our final sunset with another flying fox show. We'll anchor in Labuan Bajo Harbour and head ashore for celebratory drinks and dinner.
Day 7 – Goodbyes & Giant Smiles
Our trip ends with one last breakfast on board. We check out at 10 a.m. — sun-kissed, salt-haired, and filled to the brim with unforgettable memories.
(Note: Itinerary may shift depending on weather — nature runs the show out here!)
KOMODO NATIONAL PARK
Komodo National Park is a spectacular destination offering an extraordinary mix of marine and terrestrial wonders. Famed for its world-class diving, the park is home to over 1,000 species of fish and 260 types of coral, making it a paradise for underwater explorers of all skill levels. Beyond the vibrant reefs and thrilling drift dives, visitors can also encounter the awe-inspiring Komodo Dragons—the world’s largest lizards—roaming freely on the islands.
Above the water, the park boasts dramatic landscapes, from pristine white-sand beaches to rugged cliffs and lush hills, ideal for photography, hiking, and kayaking. A liveaboard trip is one of the best ways to experience the park, giving you access to its most remote and beautiful corners. Whether you're diving, trekking, or simply soaking in the scenery, Komodo offers a rich blend of adventure, wildlife, and natural beauty that makes it one of the world’s most unforgettable travel experiences.

FAQs
CAN I JOIN IF I AM NOT A FREEDIVER?
Yes you can! You won’t miss out - there will be lots of opportunity for snorkelling over the beautiful coral reefs, as well as plenty of dry adventuring too.
ARE YOU TEACHING ANY COURSES ON THIS TRIP?
We are just focussing on fun! We will have the option to do some line-diving training (if you are already certified as a freediver), but if you want to learn then come join us on Gili Trawangan a few days earlier, and we can warm you up for the week with Level 1, 2 or 3! See our course + retreat package pricing for details.
what is included in the price?
The trip price includes accomodation, all meals, diving, daily yoga classes, all group activities and national park entrance fees. We recommend bringing your own equipment (wetsuit, mask, snorkel, weight belt and fins), with an option to hire from us. We can supply dive weights on the boat. There are also masks and snorkels available to purchase at Freedive Gili before departure.
WHERE DOES THE TRIP START AND END?
We depart from Freedive Gili on Gili Trawangan, which is about 1.5 hours from Bali. We suggest getting the ferry from Bali a few days early - join us for some line diving or a freediving course to warm up for the week!
The trip ends in Labuan Bajo/Komodo Airport. The one-way ticket back to Denpasar/Bali costs around $60 USD, or you can continue on your own adventure through Indonesia!
