LEVEL 1 / 2 INSTRUCTOR COURSE
Well, luckily we know exactly how you feel. Our teaching team includes some of the most experienced Instructor Trainers and freediving Education professionals in the world. We are so passionate about supporting and mentoring the next generation of Freediving Instructors.
Over 10-12 days, we will teach you everything you need to know to give your students the best experience possible:
Practice how to communicate complex ideas in a fun and engaging way
Learn to safely manage your students with confidence
Insights into the business of the freediving industry
See behind the scenes of one of South East Asia’s busiest freediving centres
Your certification of SSI Freediving Instructor Level 2 will allow you to teach freediving courses Try, Basic, Pool, Level 1 and Level 2, as well as specialty courses in Training Techniques and Free Immersion.

Prerequisites
Applicants must be certified with a minimum of Level 3 (or equivalent)
Hold a current First Aid/CPR/O2 qualification (can be done here with Freedive Gili).
It’s important to familiarise yourself with all the Level 1 and 2 theory and course requirements before commencing the course (you will be learning how to teach the content, not re-learning the content).
Likewise, you should feel comfortable reaching the performance requirements before the course begins. We will not have time to train for the requirements, so we highly recommend arriving at least a week in advance if possible to dive with us and to get comfortable in the water, so you can start the IC feeling relaxed and prepared.

Teaching presentations (theory, open water & pool)
Performance Requirements
800m swim (using mask, snorkel, and fins with a time limit of 15 minutes)
400m swim (without fins, snorkel or buoyancy devices)
15 minutes water treading
85m DYNB
4 min STA
40m CWTB
Rescue simulation from 20m hang
Rescue from 20m with 50m surface tow
5 x 20m dives with 1 minute surface interval
To be a Freediving professional requires maturity, endurance and enthusiasm along with patience and empathy.
MASTER PROGRAM +
LEVEL 1-2 INSTRUCTOR COURSE
We highly recommend all of our Instructor Candidates begin either with the Master Program or at least a week of training before the Instructor Course.
The Instructor course is not a training camp with time to work on your own diving, you’ll be practicing the skills you will use as a teacher, so it is worth investing time to refine your own diving before commencing. This will help familiarise you with our centre, the environment and your fellow students, and give you time to train for your performance requirements, so that you can begin your Instructor Course feeling prepared and relaxed.
